Cultural
Awareness Workshop
A one-day interactive workshop
(6 hours) where participants learn about the major cultural
differences that influence communication, reasoning styles, and
cross-border interactions. Focusing on identified cultural
patterns in populations and groups through out the world, the
workshop introduces a model for understanding motivational
factors, professional and social relationships, business
protocol and practices, as well as the personal lifestyles of
individuals.

and Values - Understanding Who We Are
This program
focuses on the U.S. culture and how it shapes the behavior of
Americans and influences daily interactions, communications, and
business relationships. .
Cross-Cultural Etiquette for International Business: Crossing
Borders and Cultural Divides Gracefully
This program explores some of
the common cultural divides in the rules of etiquette.
Resource information and suggested ways to prepare for new
cross-culture encounters and to improve communication and
understanding in existing cross-culture relationships make this
program a fun and entertaining learning experience for the
participants.

Using core and selective program modules, a customized program
is designed around the participant's needs. The program can be
tailored to the individual or group setting.

Culture — Geographical, Political and Social Influences That Have Shaped
and Continue to Shape the American View Point and Behavior
We begin the
Cross-cultural Lunch and Learn Series by looking at how culture
structures the reality of those living with in it. We will focus on
the basic assumptions made by Americans, the historical,
geographical and social bases for these assumptions and the values
that influence and shape the behavior of Americans today.
Using
Cultural Frames to Understand US Cultural Differences
Cultural frames
provide recognizable dimensions against which different cultures can
be compared. It is a way of measuring and explaining difference.
They can help one plan for an encounter and manage one's own
cultural experiences and expectations.
This session
introduces the Hofstede Cultural Dimensions Index and other building
blocks of culture. The values and beliefs associated with these
identifiable characteristics of culture are the source of and
explanation for a wide variety of behavior. They are fundamental to
understanding cultural differences related to the concept of self,
social responsibility, internal and external control, social
equality, tradition and achievement.
Participants are
encouraged take part in a number of short interactive exercises to
help them identify their own cultural position along the Cultural
Dimension Scale. This workshop provides participants with a frame of
reference that can be used to prepare for cross-cultural encounter.
It also serves as an excellent tool for reflecting on successful and
unsuccessful cross-cultural encounter.
Creating Successful Cross-cultural Experiences When Interacting With the
Locals
The session focuses
on the skills, knowledge and traits an individual needs for a a
successful cross-cultural experience.
